Mumbai 21-06023: Mumbai and Goa will soon be connected by the prestigious Vande Bharat Express on the scenic Konkan Railway route. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will ceremoniously flag off five Vande Bharat Express trains simultaneously on June 27, including the much-awaited Mumbai-Goa route. The ticket prices for this high-speed train have also been finalized, generating much anticipation among travelers. Originally scheduled to commence earlier, the inauguration of the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express was delayed due to a train accident in Balasore district, Odisha. However, the launch is now set for June 27.
The Vande Bharat Express is expected to be the fastest train operating on the Konkan Railway line, surpassing the speed of Janshatabdi and Tejas Express trains. With reduced travel time, the new train will reach Margaon, Goa almost an hour earlier than existing services. This development comes as excellent news for those planning to visit the Konkan region during the Ganapati festival.
The Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express will have a total of 11 stops along the route, covering a distance of 586 kilometers in approximately eight hours. Starting from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), the train will halt at stations such as Dadar, Thane, Panvel, Roha, Khed, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, and Thivim. The Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, excluding Fridays. Departing from CSMT at 5:25 am, the train will arrive in Madgaon, Goa at 1:15 pm. On the return journey, it will depart from Margaon at 2:35 pm and reach CSMT, Mumbai at 10:25 pm.
As for ticket prices, many travelers have been eager to know the Mumbai-Goa Vande Bharat Express fare. The fare structure is distance-dependent, with the EC chair car tickets estimated to be priced between Rs 1,100 to Rs 1,600, and the executive class category ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,800. However, the provisional fare for the EC chair car is stated to be Rs 2,915, and CC (AC chair car) priced at Rs 1,435. Comparatively, airfare for the Mumbai-Goa route is approximately 1.8 times higher.
