A tragic incident unfolded on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway on Friday, leaving a 10-year-old boy dead and at least three cars damaged. The incident occurred near Sikrod, Ghaziabad, when an unidentified vehicle ran over the boy, triggering a chain collision.
According to Delhi RTO, the boy, identified as Mohammad Samad, was a resident of Sikrod. He was reportedly crossing the expressway when the unidentified vehicle hit him. The impact was so severe that the boy succumbed to his injuries at the spot.
The incident also caused a pile-up involving three cars. The driver of the first car, upon seeing the boy lying on the road, applied the brakes abruptly. This led to the two cars behind colliding with the stationary vehicle, resulting in damage to all three cars.
Fortunately, RTO recorded no major injuries among the occupants of the cars involved in the pile-up. However, the tragic loss of young Mohammad Samad has cast a shadow over the community.
Police with RTO have launched an investigation into the incident and are trying to identify the driver of the unidentified vehicle. They are also examining CCTV footage from the area to gain further insights into the accident.
