Pune School Buses

In a bid to ensure compliance and safety standards, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Pune has issued a stern warning to school buses and vans that operate unlawfully or without the requisite fitness certificate. After Vashi and Panvel Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) crackdown on school buses and vans, Pune RTO authorities have emphasized the importance of rectifying the situation by the end of June, cautioning vehicle owners about the consequences of non-compliance.

To facilitate the process, Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Sanjiv Bhor, has advised vehicle owners who are unable to visit their designated RTOs or the Dive Ghat testing track on weekdays to make appointments in advance and avail themselves of the opportunity to visit on weekends. This arrangement aims to accommodate the busy schedules of vehicle owners while ensuring adherence to the necessary checks and protocols.

Pune, with approximately 5,000 school buses and vans in operation, along with Pimpri Chinchwad, housing around 2,600 vehicles, stands as a significant focal point for this endeavor. The RTO’s timely intervention aligns with the commencement of the new academic session, emphasizing the urgency of maintaining the required standards.

Prior to visiting the RTO on weekends for inspections, transporters are advised to visit the RTO office near Sangam Bridge, secure an appointment, and fulfill the necessary fee requirements. Only then will their vehicles undergo the thorough examination process. In cases where vehicles fail to meet the prescribed standards during inspection, a grace period until the end of the month will be granted to make the required adjustments and modifications.

It is important to note that regulations mandate certain specifications for school buses and vans, and the RTO issues certificates based on compliance with these regulations. In addition to obtaining fitness certification, it is imperative for all school buses to have a designated woman attendant on board, ensuring the safety and security of the students during transportation.

The RTO’s firm stance on enforcing regulations underscores their commitment to maintaining high safety standards for school transportation. By actively engaging with vehicle owners and emphasizing the importance of compliance, the RTO strives to create a secure environment for students as they travel to and from educational institutions.
