Sindhudurg: Two Arrested for Illegally Transporting Goa-Made Liquor
Late yesterday, a traffic branch team made a significant arrest in Satuli Titha of Talkokan, apprehending two individuals involved in the unlawful transportation of Goa-made liquor. The seized goods, including the liquor itself, amounted to a total value of 11 lakh 2 thousand.
Further details reveal that the two suspects were walking towards Kolhapur from Sawantwadi, accompanied by a Mahendra Bolero pick-up truck. The vigilant traffic policeman, Pravin Saple, who was on duty at the time, noticed their suspicious movements and decided to intervene. Upon inspection of the vehicle, a considerable quantity of alcohol was discovered. A case has been registered against the suspects, identified as Saadhan Anand Vanmane (21) and Birudev alias Birujanu Kharat (24), both hailing from Sangola. It is likely that charges will be filed against them under Section 93 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, 1949, for their habitual involvement in the manufacturing, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor, contravening the provisions of the Maharashtra state law.
