In response to concerns voiced by petitioner Randeep Tanwar against Haryana and other respondents, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has given orders to guarantee the efficient flow of traffic on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway. The purpose of the application is to stop a mob from amassing on National Highway-44 under the direction of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) and causing delays and inconvenience to travellers.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has intervened in response to the plea filed by Randeep Tanwar, recognising the significance of preserving vehicle freedom of movement on the crucial Delhi-Chandigarh Highway. The court has emphasised the necessity to eliminate any barriers that can restrict traffic and interfere with commuters’ and companies’ regular operations.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is in charge of building and maintaining the road system, has also drawn attention to the detrimental effects that protests have on how well the highways function. The disruptions brought on by these events and the following effects they have on traffic flow, safety, and overall effectiveness have raised issues with the NHAI.

The court’s ruling serves as a reminder to the authorities to act right away to ensure that vehicles can travel on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway without being obstructed, including the involved state governments and law enforcement organisations. It demands that the required steps be taken to stop any mob gatherings or protests that impede traffic and disturb commuters.

In order to preserve law and order and guarantee commuter safety, the court has also ordered the authorities to work with the police departments and deploy enough staff along the roadway. This action seeks to stop any undesirable incidents and keep the highway operating normally.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court’s ruling emphasises how important it is to keep the public in order and to ensure smooth traffic flow on key roadways. It emphasises the importance of efficient coordination between the government, law enforcement, and pertinent parties to quickly address any interruptions.

The court’s involvement serves as a reminder of the duty to defend the right to free movement and the significance of minimising the disruptions brought on by demonstrations or gatherings along major routes. The court’s judgement seeks to protect commuter interests and advance continuous transportation connectivity between the two cities by guaranteeing the free flow of traffic on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway.

The NHAI, state governments, and law enforcement department are required to swiftly carry out the court’s orders, guaranteeing commuters a hassle-free journey and maintaining the effectiveness of the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway.
