Pune, 16 June 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has made a public plea for owners of electric autorickshaws to submit applications for a 25,000 subsidy in an effort to promote electric cars and lower carbon emissions. This program is being launched at the same time that the PMC has received money from the 15th Finance Commission to promote the use of environmentally friendly transportation options in the city.
According to Madhav Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner of PMC, “We aim to provide this subsidy to 5,000 e-auto owners who have registered their vehicles with the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO).” The procedure for requesting the subsidy grant got under way on Tuesday, and the required paperwork was made accessible on PMC’s official website. Owners of autorickshaws must complete the form and include the necessary paperwork. The payment for the subsidy will be given to the qualified recipients after approval.
The PMC is dedicated to environmentally friendly transportation beyond electric autorickshaws. Additionally, the company is providing financial support to owners of conventional auto rickshaws who have converted their vehicles to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). This all-encompassing strategy demonstrates PMC’s commitment to advancing environmentally friendly mobility options and minimising the city’s carbon footprint.
The PMC highly urges all qualified owners of CNG and electric autorickshaws to take advantage of this funding opportunity. Vehicle owners can support the city’s environmental sustainability goals while also reaping financial rewards from switching to cleaner, more energy-efficient means of transportation by taking advantage of the incentives.
