Seven wagons of a goods train derailed near Kasara, on the outskirts of Mumbai, on Sunday evening, leading to major disruption in mail express train services on the route. The incident occurred around 6:30 PM on the Down line between Kasara and TGR-3 station, affecting traffic on both the Down and middle lines. While no injuries were reported, the derailment affected mail express trains on the Kasara-Igatpuri section on both the Down and Middle lines. Thankfully, suburban services remained unaffected.

The Central Railway issued a press statement stating that “Central Railway authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment. Restoration work is underway, and we are working to clear the tracks and resume normal train operations as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to passengers and assure them that we are taking all necessary steps to rectify the situation.”

The derailment has impacted mail express trains operating between Kasara and Igatpuri. Passengers are advised to check the latest train schedule updates before embarking on their journeys.

To clear the tracks and restore normal train operations, rescue teams and cranes have been deployed to the site. Railway officials are working diligently to remove the derailed wagons and ensure the safety of passengers.

While suburban train services remain unaffected, passengers are advised to anticipate delays and plan their travel accordingly.
